A mega-wonderful life

It usually takes a year or two for movies to spawn a sequel. Sometimes five. But 69 years?

Variety says a sequel finally is being made to Frank Capra's 1946 holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life. Due Christmas 2015, it'll be about an angel who shows George Bailey, the grandson of the original movie's George Bailey (James Stewart), what life would be like had he never be born.

The angel will be played by Karolyn Grimes, who starred as George Bailey's daughter Zuzu in the original film. "The new film will retain the feeling of the original, and it simply must be shared," Grimes tells Variety. "I've probably read close to 20 scripts over the years suggesting a sequel to It's a Wonderful Life but none of them were any good."

No word on Grimes' costars.

Faith keeps the love . . .

. . . and the husband. Country popster Faith Hill, 46, is perturbed by persistent reports that she's breaking up with husband Tim McGraw.

Rumors "seem to be running like crazy right now for some reason. It's perplexing," Hill tells People.

She and Tim are very happy and "absolutely not" splitting, says Hill. "I don't know why 'happy' can't be a story," she says. Well, Ms. Hill, stories require conflict and conflict is, by definition, a threat or obstacle to happiness. Therefore, happy can't really be a story. Not a compelling one, anyway.

Taylor Swift's love songs

Like all great creators, Taylor Swift, 23, transforms her personal life into great art. Her LP Red, for one, is reportedly about her painful breakup with hunk actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Hers is such sublime art that even the guy she sings about loves the album! Though she doesn't name him, Swift tells New York magazine the guy she sings about in Red contacted her recently.

"He was like, 'I just listened to the album, and that was a really bittersweet experience for me. It was like going through a photo album.' That was nice," Swift says. "Nicer than, like, the ranting, crazy e-mails I got from this one dude." (Other dudes in Taylor's past include Conor Kennedy, Harry Styles, Joe Jonas, and John Mayer.)
