CBS3 traffic reporter hits the road

CBS3 TRAFFIC reporter Bob Kelly has left CBS3 after 13 years at the station.

In an email to me, Kelly made it clear this was not an expected departure.

"It's been an emotional couple of days for sure. I truly expected to finish out my career at CBS, and the incredible outpouring of countless messages and phone calls has reminded me how much I really love doing what I get to do, and in the city I grew up in," Kelly told me in an email, adding that he was blown away by the support he received on Facebook.

He continued: "I'm not sure of the next step in the journey yet. But for now, I'm very much looking forward to sleeping in past 2:30 a.m. and waking up with my family. TV is in my blood and I love it with a passion. I look forward to the moment I can help the viewers navigate the roads once again."

Talk Radio 1210 WPHT's Chris Stigall, who worked with Kelly on his morning show, told me that his management team has made it clear to Kelly that he would like to continue working with him.

Kelly is the third CBS3 personality to leave in recent months, following Elizabeth Hur and Jenn Bernstein. Sources tell me that a pay decrease may have played a part in Kelly's depature, a now-common practice happening in newsrooms across the country. A rep from CBS3 did not comment on contract negotiations. Neither did Kelly.

While Jay Z didn't come out to perform with Kanye West at Made in America, he watched his former album-mate's headlining set on Saturday from the sidelines, along with Kanye's wifey, Kim Kardashian, and sister-in-law/model, Kendall Jenner. Before performing at Made in America, West and Kardashian (along with daughter/baby model North) attended Kanye's cousin's wedding at Wilmington's University and Whist Club (805 N. Broom St.).

Jay also made sure to catch protege J. Cole as he rocked an enthusiastic crowd. Also seen wandering the fest was actress Chloe Bridges, currently of "Pretty Little Liars" and formerly the excellently named Donna LaDonna from now canceled "The Carrie Diaries."

Fox 29 sports anchor Colleen Wolfe put in her last day at Fox 29 on Sunday. She's heading to the NFL Network, starting her new gig today. The Drexel grad had been with Fox 29 since 2012. Wolfe did not respond to comment when asked whether she and husband, John Gonzalez, formerly of the Inquirer and currently of Comcast SportsNet, would be moving to the NFL network's Los Angeles base.

Replacing Wolfe is former 6ABC sports anchor Keith Russell, who returns to the Philadelphia market. Russell, a West Oak Lane native, spent seven years with 6ABC before departing for Washington, D.C. The Central High grad, who left the market in 2012, did a stint at ESPN before his 6ABC tenure.

Russell will join Howard Eskin beginning this week as a co-anchor for "Game Day Live." He will also anchor the station's Friday and Saturday newscasts at 6 and 10 p.m., in addition to contributing to the "Sports Sunday" show.

Courtney Burrell, a 27-year-old personal-fitness trainer from North Philly, will compete on GSN's "Idiotest" tonight at 9. In the game, host Ben Gleib asks rapid-fire brain teasers that any idiot should know.

* Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur dined at South Philly hot spot Townsend (1623 E. Passyunk) on Saturday night.

* Muhammad Ali's business manager, Gene Kilroy, dined at the Palm (200 S. Broad St.) with man about town Harry Jay Katz and his wife, Debra Renee Cruz. Kilroy may be based in Las Vegas, where he is an exucutive at the Luxor and organized the details for Tony Curtis' funeral, but he's a Philly boy at heart.
