Fox 29's Lauren Johnson undergoes tests for 'major voice issues'

Fox 29's Lauren Johnson is awaiting results of a series of medical tests for a number of "major voice issues" she is suffering from, the anchor and reporter recently announced.

Johnson, who anchors and reports for Fox 29 Morning News and Good Day Philadelphia, said via Facebook last week she had undergone several tests to pinpoint the cause of a hoarse, raspy voice she has developed.

After a camera probe two weeks ago, doctors discovered Johnson had vocal cord cysts and an enflamed throat, as well as partial paralysis of her vocal cords. Johnson described the process as "torture" in her Facebook post.

"I puked several times, and cried during the entire procedure," Johnson wrote.

Doctors followed that procedure with a test last week looking at Johnson's vocal cord paralysis and conducted a 24-hour pH probe study, which involved installing a tube in Johnson's nose. According to her Facebook post, the tube was removed Friday. Johnson indicated she also was awaiting the results of an MRI.

"Until then, pray for me!," Johnson wrote. "And let's all be thankful for doctors and nurses who are healing us every day whether it's fun or just plain miserable!"

Johnson indicated on Twitter that she had taken off Thursday and Friday for the tests. However, her return over the weekend drew a few responses from fans:

Johnson, an Atlanta native, joined Fox 29 in 2014 after a stint at Florida Fox affiliate WOFL, where she hosted Good Day Orlando, according to her Fox 29 biography.
