Death of Philadelphia attorney Chuck Peruto’s former girlfriend, Julia Law, to become Lifetime movie
But Peruto did not even know that the made-for-TV movie was hitting the small screen
In 2013, the death of 26-year-old paralegal Julia Law made headlines after her body was found in the bathtub of a luxury condominium that belonged to her boyfriend and boss, prominent Philly defense attorney A. Charles Peruto Jr. Now, the story is about to become a made-for-TV movie on the Lifetime network. But Peruto did not even know that the made-for-TV movie was hitting the small screen
Lifetime will premiere the film, dubbed The Girl in the Bathtub, on Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. Described as a dark, psychological drama, the film will dramatize the true story of Law's death. Australian actress Caitlin Stasey will portray Law, while The Lost Boys' Jason Patric will play an unnamed Philadelphia lawyer who Law is dating.

"This is the first I'm hearing about this," Peruto told the Inquirer and Daily News in an email. "I don't know how I, or anyone, can be portrayed accurately, since no one in my firm, where she worked daily, myself included, was so much as asked a question."
Lifetime did not immediately return requests for comment.
Law was found dead in the bathtub of a Philadelphia condominium that belonged to Peruto in May of 2013 after a maintenance worker found her body. Police ultimately concluding that she likely drowned in the tub following a seizure, though Law's blood-alcohol level at the time of her death was 0.40 — five times the threshold for a DUI.
A grand jury probe convened by then-District Attorney Seth Williams concluded that "there was no evidence of criminal activity found" in Law's death.
Following Law's death, Peruto referred to Law as his "soulmate." However, Peruto has long been dogged by speculation that he had something to do with Law's death.
"People who still think I had something to do with Julia Law's death," Peruto told Philadelphia magazine last year, "are so stupid that I can't even be bothered to comment."
