The news teams at NBC10 and Telemundo 62 will feature a new on-air crew member starting this month.

Lucy Bustamante will serve as morning news anchor for NBC10 and breaking news anchor for Telemundo62 starting on Monday, as she wrote on Twitter following NBC10's announcement of her addition to the station's news teams.

A New Orleans native, Bustamante comes to Philly following gigs as weekday morning and noon anchor at Norfolk, Virginia's ABC affiliate, WVEC-TV, and as weekday morning news anchor at WVXX-FM, a Spanish radio station in the city. Prior to working at those stations, Bustamante worked as an evening anchor at New Orleans' WWL-TV. She also has a communications degree from Loyola University in Maryland, and has won three regional Edward R. Murrow awards, a Peabody, and an Associated Press award for her work.

The daughter of Cuban refugees who came to the United States in 1969, Bustamante is fluent in Spanish — a skill that NBC10 notes will be "utilized on NBC10 and Telemundo62." Currently, she lives in Graduate Hospital with her husband and four children.

"I am so grateful for this incredible opportunity to continue the career I love in both English and Spanish," Bustamante wrote of her new gig on Facebook. "We've been in Philadelphia just shy of two months and it is a vibrant, energetic, and beautifully diverse metro area."

Bustamante, however, has spent some time in the Philly area in the past, having come to Delaware County as a high school student to volunteer at a convent in Radnor that served as a nursing home.

"It was part of my school's service mission and one of the best high school memories," Bustamante said. "Philadelphia won my heart early."

News of Bustamante's addition at NBC10 comes following word about the move of a former beloved face at the station. Sheena Parveen, who left NBC10 in 2016 for a station in Washington, D.C., is moving on to a gig in San Diego less than two years after departing from Philly. Bustamante, however, is focused on Philly.

"The pride Philadelphians feel for their home is evident," " she said in an NBC10 writeup announcing her addition to the station. "I can't wait to start telling the stories of this historic and diverse community."
