Joe Biden to speak in Philly Wednesday on future of cancer treatment

Former Vice President Joe Biden a featured panelist at a discussion on the future of cancer treatment — and what it will take to accelerate improvements — to be held at the National Constitution Center on Wednesday.
Doors open for the event, which has limited seating for 200, at 3 p.m., with the program starting at 3:30.
Joining Biden will be his wife Dr. Jill Biden, the co-chair of the Biden Cancer Initiative, Mark Alles, CEO of the pharmaceutical company Celgene Corporation, Stefanie Joho, a cancer survivor and writer, Elizabeth Jaffee, deputy director of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University, and Sean Parker, founder of the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy.
In 2015, Biden's son Beau died at 46 after a two-year battle with brain cancer. The following year, President Obama asked Joe Biden to head up the Cancer Moonshot project to help find a cure for cancer.
