Woman shot in Kensington A 25-year-old woman was in critical condition after being shot in the chest last night in Kensington, police said. Police say the shooting took place east of Kensington Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. The woman was taken to Temple University Hospital where she had surgery. Police reported no immediate arrests.

Cops hurt breaking up brawl
A street brawl involving several women in Hunting Park resulted in several arrests and injuries to four police officers last night, police said. Police say the melee erupted about 7:30 p.m. on D Street near Courtland, when the women tried to stab each other, police said.
When police arrived, they tried to break up the fight, but were overwhelmed, police said. One officer twisted his left ankle; another banged up his bicep. The other two suffered minor scrapes and bumps. The officers were treated at Jeanes Hospital and released. No one involved in the fight required treatment.
City's 200th homicide
The city marked its 200th homicide for the year over the weekend when 34-year-old Jamaal Nelson was shot and killed in Logan Saturday.
Nelson, of Merion Avenue near Lancaster, was shot multiple times about 9:10 p.m. on 13th Street near Wyoming Avenue, police said. He was pronounced dead at Albert Einstein Medical Center at 9:24 p.m.
At this time last year, the city's homicide count was 189.
Cyclist killed in Roxborough
A 65-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, died after being struck by a car in Roxborough Saturday afternoon.
Police said that the man, who was on a bicycle, was hit shortly before 3 p.m. by a car operated by a 63-year-old woman. Police said that the bicyclist had made a U-turn on Umbria Street near Paoli Avenue when he was hit head-on by the car. He was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital at 3:53 p.m.
Escaped suspect turns self in
A drug suspect who escaped from a Gloucester City police car Friday by kicking out the rear window is now back in custody. Paul Griffith, 34, turned himself in to authorities in Bellmawr Saturday.
An officer was taking Griffith to the Camden County Jail after he was arrested on several charges, including cocaine possession. He was in the back seat and managed to get his handcuffed hands in front of his body before fleeing.
Man shot dead in Camden
Julius Davis, 47, of Lawrenceville, was shot at 5th and State streets, in Camden, about 9 p.m. Friday. He was pronounced dead at Underwood Memorial Hospital, in Woodbury, at about 11 p.m.

State lags in vaccinations
The state had a 64 percent rate for giving infants and toddlers recommended shots for polio, hepatitis B, mumps, measles and rubella and other diseases last year, well below the national average of nearly 71 percent, and the lowest in the Northeast.
The state ranked 42nd last year - and 45th in 2008 - in a phone survey of parents and pediatricians by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
