When Damon Rush got in the passenger's seat of a car Saturday night, it was the last ride he'd ever take.
Police said that Rush, 25, was shot twice in the head while the car he was riding in was stopped at a red light on Tyson Avenue near Roosevelt Boulevard, in Mayfair, about 8:20 p.m.
A gunman approached the car and fired two shots through the passenger's window, Homicide Sgt. Bob Wilkins said.
What remains unknown, aside from the gunman's identity, is how he arrived at the scene.
"We don't know if he jumped out of another car or ran up the street," Wilkins said.
Investigators believe that Rush, of Walker Street near Princeton Avenue, was the intended target of the shooting. Wilkins said that the driver of the car, who was not identified, stayed at the scene until police arrived.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to call homicide detectives at 215-686-3334 or the Police Department's tip line at 215-686-8477.
