Police are searching for a man who shot a 16-year-old boy in North Philadelphia and fled the scene on a bicycle last night.

The teen was walking on Diamond Street about 5:20 p.m. when a man rode by on a blue bicycle with a brown seat and fired at least three shots at him, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

The boy was wounded twice in his right leg and thigh, and was taken by medics to Hahnemann University Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Small said a witness was being interviewed by detectives last night.

2 - Man charged with shining laser at police chopper

6th Street near Luzerne

Police identified a Hunting Park man who was arrested Wednesday night and charged with interfering with an aircraft after allegedly shining a high-powered green laser into the cockpit of a police helicopter.

Authorities said Brian Lawhon, 23, targeted two officers who were flying on patrol about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

An FBI arrest affidavit said that the two pilots were struck in the eyes with the laser and suffered injuries, including flash blindness, severe pain, and headaches, the affidavit said.

The pilots were able to pinpoint Lawhon, who was arrested after they radioed ground units for assistance. Lawhon, who is in federal custody, is at least the fourth person since 2005 prosecuted here for pointing a laser at a police helicopter.

3 - Homicide victim is identified

Jefferson Street and Wynnewood Road

Police have identified the man who was found shot to death inside a car parked in Overbook yesterday.

Marquise McCoy, 22, of Park Lane, Darby, was found in the driver's seat by patrolling officers who were alerted by gunfire about 2:50 a.m.

Two other men found alive in the car were questioned by police.

4 - 2 thugs rob store in North Phila.

Susquehanna Avenue near 20th Street

Police are looking for two men who robbed a North Philadelphia grocery store yesterday morning.

One suspect has been identified by police as Wesley Clark, 20, of 20th Street near Diamond. Two workers were opening the My City Market when the armed thieves entered the store and pistol-whipped the employees. They went behind the counter and took about $300 and a 12-gauge shotgun.

The second man is described as black, in his 20s, about 5 feet 9, 170 pounds. He was wearing a brown Nike shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers. Both men had handguns. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the police Central Detective Division at 215-686-3093.
