A 44-year-old North Philadelphia woman has been arrested and charged with fatally stabbing her housemate during what police called a domestic dispute over the weekend.

Police said that Anita McKeithan, 47, was stabbed once in the chest about 3:45 a.m. Saturday inside a rowhouse in Hunting Park.

Investigators arrested Tanya L. Locks and charged her with murder and possession of an instrument of crime.

Police did not disclose details about the dispute that allegedly triggered the stabbing.

A preliminary hearing for Locks is scheduled for Dec. 28.

Cops: Mom with baby shoplifted * Baltimore Avenue near Delmar Road

Police said the mother of a 3-year-old was pushing her child up and down the aisles of a Delaware County store last week while stealing merchandise to sell for scrap.

Candace MacNamee, 26, of Clifton Heights, was arrested Wednesday at a Home Depot store in Primos.

Police said she took nearly $250 in brass fittings, chains, bolts and other metal items while pushing her daughter's stroller.

Authorities said the child was picked up by her grandmother after MacNamee's arrest.

MacNamee is scheduled for a court hearing Thursday on a charge of retail theft.

2 shot in N. Phila., hospitalized

A double shooting in North Philadelphia left two men hospitalized in stable condition last night.

A 22-year-old man was wounded once in his abdomen and once in his buttocks about 6:40 p.m., police said.

A 27-year-old man was shot in his left leg and in his buttocks, police said.

Medics took both men to Temple University Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition as of 9 p.m.

A description of the gunman was not immediately available.

No arrests were made.

Shooting victim ID'd; homicides up for year

Police identified the victim of a Saturday-night shooting as Caliek Ruffin, also known as Jason Ruffin, 28, of West Philadelphia.

He was found shot in the head, chest and legs in a rear alley in West Philadelphia about 7 p.m.

Ruffin, of Webster Street near 54th, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators have not reported whether they have established a motive or identified any suspects in the killing.

As of 12:01 a.m. yesterday, the city has had 313 criminal homicides this year, compared with 289 at the same time last year.

This year's total includes the eight alleged victims of a West Philadelphia abortion doctor who all died before 2011.
