He wants bike lanes to go through Council
City Councilman Bill Greenlee is making yet another attempt at requiring that the city’s bike lanes be approved by Council. The brakes were pumped last year when bike advocates showed-up in force against the bill. But Greenlee renewed the effort Thursday.
City Councilman Bill Greenlee is making yet another attempt at requiring that the city's bike lanes be approved by Council.
The brakes were pumped last year when bike advocates showed-up in force against the bill. But Greenlee renewed the effort Thursday.
Of his proposal, co-sponsored by Councilman Mark Squilla and Council President Darrell Clarke, Greenlee said: "Most bike lanes would go right through without a problem. One may come up every now and then that might be an issue, but that's what we're here for, to hear both sides of the issue."
Mayoral spokesman Mark McDonald said the administration will review the bill. Last year, the administration said the proposal would delay the installation of bike lanes. n
