Mega Millions jackpot: Here are the numbers

The numbers in Friday night's Mega Millions drawing were 2, 4, 23, 38 and 46, with a Mega Ball of 23.

Millions of people were eagerly anticipating the drawing because a record-shattering jackpot of $640 million was on the line. That was for the annuity, payable over 25 years.

The estimated cash value, also a record, was $462 million.

Although the drawing took place at 11 p.m., as of midnight the whereabouts of any winners had yet to be determined, according to www.megamillions.com.

Calculating that could take another hour or more, since the number combinations of hundreds of millions of tickets had to be processed.

Most winners take the cash.

Officials advise winners of major amounts of money to sign the back of the ticket and get in touch with the lottery in the state where it was purchased. For more details about Pennsylvania, go to www.palottery.com. For New Jersey, go to www.njlottery.net.

Expect problems accessing many lottery websites, however, because of unusually high traffic.
