The Pennsylvania SPCA held its fourth annual Bark and Whine event Nov. 3 at the Horticulture Center in Fairmount Park. More than 400 guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and silent and live auctions. Honored at the event were PSPCA board member Lindy Lou Snider, who was named the 2016 Advocate of the Year, and the late George Bengal, who served as PSPCA director of humane law enforcement from 2007 until his death in June. The event raised $716,000 for the Pennsylvania SPCA, which since 1867 has been dedicated to preventing animal cruelty and rescuing animals from abuse and neglect. It also offers a low-cost veterinary clinic, low-cost spay and neuter services, and pet-adoption facilities.
