Cause and Celebration: Chefs for Silver Springs

The Silver Springs-Martin Luther School and its board held the ninth annual Chefs for Silver Springs event Nov. 4 at Green Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill. Silver Springs is a social ministry organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church that serves destitute or dependent children, providing housing, education, and mental-health services. Some 400 people attended the fund-raiser, which included a cocktail reception, dinner, dessert, and a silent auction. The evening's special guests were chef Marcy Turney and WIP host Glen Macnow, who served as emcee. The event raised more than $200,000 that will go to support the children the Silver Spring-Martin Luther School serves.
