Volunteer firefighters complete training
WEST CALN Twenty-six people have completed training and can serve as volunteer firefighters in their communities.
The 25 men and one woman graduated from Chester County firefighting training on Nov. 19, and received their certifications at a ceremony at the Wagontown Fire Company.
They completed a 172-hour basic firefighting course, meant to provide people with little or no experience with the basic knowledge and skills needed to be effective and stay safe as a member of a fire protection team.
The graduates also trained in CPR and the use of automated external defibrillators.
The Fire Services Division of the Chester County Department of Emergency Services taught the course.
Fire companies the graduates will serve include Wagontown, Keystone Valley Fire Department, Modena Fire Company, Goshen Fire Company, Limerick Fire Company, East Brandywine Fire Company, Longwood Fire Company, and Radnor Fire Company. - Michaelle Bond
