Nearly 200-year-old 'castle' damaged in blaze

A nearly 200-year-old mansion in Chadds Ford that is known as the "Rocky Hill Castle" was heavily damaged in an overnight fire.

The nearly 200-year-old Chadds Ford mansion known as Rocky Hill Castle was gutted in an early morning fire Tuesday. The home, built in 1821 and renovated to a stone castle in 1912, was on the market for an asking price of $674,000. Firefighters are investigating the blaze at the 8,496-square-foot, 12-bedroom, 31/2-bath home, which has been used as a summer dwelling by its owners.
