Cops ID man fatally shot in West Oak Lane

Police have identified the man who was fatally shot in the head Thursday night in West Oak Lane.

Officers were called to the shooting on the 7500 block of Mayland Road just after 8:40 p.m., police said.

The victim, identified Friday as 39-year-old Michael Macon, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:01 p.m.

The motive for the slaying remains unknown.

No description of any suspects was available.

Authorities said Thursday night that Macon, of West Oak Lane, was found clutching a bag containing take-out food and a shell casing was found feet from his body.
