Man shot in buttocks on Delco street

A man was hospitalized in stable condition after being shot on a Delaware County street Thursday afternoon, police said.

Around 12:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of Elson Road in Chester Township, the victim was approached from behind by two unknown males when gunfire erupted, said Township Police Chief Kenneth Coalson.

The victim, who is in his early 20s, was hit in the buttocks by one of six shots that were fired. He fled around the corner to Powell Road, where he encountered a patrol officer and quickly was transported by ambulance to Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

The assailants remained at large Thursday night.
