Cops: Del. teen killed father with crossbow

A Delaware teenager today was arrested and charged with murder in the crossbow killing of his father, police said.

Seth H. Ramsey, 17, met state troopers in front of his Harrington home yesterday morning and told them "he may have killed his father." Inside they found Todd E. Ramsey, 41, dead of a wound to his torso. He was pronounced at the scene, police said.

Co-workers called police on Thursday after the elder Ramsey failed to report for work for several days, said Master Cpl. Gary E. Fournier.

According to an affidavit obtained by ABC News, the younger Ramsey told police he had skipped classes on Tuesday at Lake Forest High School. Seth Ramsey was afraid that when his father learned of his truancy, "he would be mad so he shot him."

Fournier, who said the elder Ramsey had been killed with a crossbow, said an investigation is ongoing and could not confirm the affadavit's account.

"We still don't know when it happened," Fournier said. "No motive has been established."

Seth Ramsey was being held without bail this afternoon at the Stevenson Detention House in Milford.
