Darby cop’s girlfriend charged with his murder

According to authorities and neighbors, Finch and her boyfriend, Officer Mark Hudson, had a history of domestic incidents.

Tyaina Finch, 27, was charged yesterday with murder and related offenses for allegedly shooting her boyfriend, a Darby Borough police officer, to death Saturday at the home they shared.

According to authorities and neighbors, Finch and her boyfriend, Officer Mark Hudson, had a history of domestic incidents. Police said Finch killed Hudson with a single gunshot to the chest fired from his service weapon shortly after 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Finch initially told investigators that the couple's dog picked up Hudson's gun and when she took it from his mouth, the gun accidentally went off and a bullet struck Hudson, according to the arrest affidavit.

However, police said Finch later changed her story and claimed that she and Hudson had a physical fight. She told investigators she picked up the gun to defend herself, but claimed she did not remember pulling the trigger, court documents said. Finch told investigators that Hudson's last words were, "Babe, I don't think I'm going to make it."

Hudson was pronounced dead at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center at 6:39 p.m
