PECO was called to the scene of an electrical fire in Center City earlier this afternoon, fire officials said.
The fire broke out in the basement of a four-story building on the 1600 block of Chestnut Street about 1 p.m.
Executive Fire Chief Clifford Gilliam said a pipe burst in the building's basement, "which then affected the electrical items in the room."
The fire was placed under control an hour later after PECO de-energized the equipment, Gilliam said.
No injuries were reported.
