Driver charged in hit-run of 2 teens
A35-year-old man was charged this afternoon in the hit-and-run accident in Levittown, Bucks County Sunday night that left two teens seriously injured last night.
A35-year-old man was charged this afternoon in the hit-and-run accident in Levittown, Bucks County Sunday night that left two teens seriously injured last night.
The man, identified as Forrest E. Brown of the 2700 block of Old Welsh Road, in the Willow Grove section of Abington Township, appeared before District Justice John Kelly in Levittown. He is charged with one felony count and several misdeamnor counts. Brown's bail was set at $75,000, where he is required to put up ten percent, or $7,500 of that amount.
The two 14-year-olds, a boy who was on his bike and a girl who was sitting on the curb, were strck around 7:30 in the 100 block of Forsythia Drive. They were taken by helicopter to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where they are listed as in serious but stable condition. Their names have not been released.
In an affadavit of probable cause Brown told police that he had watched the Eagles game in a Southampton bar Sunday afternoon. Afterwards he drove to visit a friend in the Cobalt Ridge section of Levittown.
On Forsythia Drive, Brown told police that as he went to pass a slower moving car, he lost control of his Volkswagen Jetta. He remembered seeing a flash of blue that turned out to be a bike belonging to one of the victims.
He told police he panicked and drove off across a field in his car. Brown turned himself into Abington police at 5:30 this morning.
Two people walking their dogs provided information to police last night.
