Fairhill School principal receives award

Edward Koch, principal of the Fairhill School, will be presented with a 2008 MetLife Foundation Ambassadors in Education Award during ceremonies at the school today at 10 a.m.
Fairhill, a K-8 school at 601 W. Somerset St. will receive a $5,000 grant in Koch's honor. He will be presented with a crystal apple.
The Ambassadors in Education Award, which is a program of the National Civic League, recognizes exemplary principals who build partnerships with community organizations, parents and guardians; resolve conflicts and promote safety in the school and community; or promote civic engagement and community service.
Koch was nominated for the award by colleagues and community members.
MetLife represenative Anthony Agentowicz will join John Claypool of the National Civic League in presenting the honor to Koch.
Each year the program alternates between recognizing outstanding principals and teachers.
