The number of musical heavy hitters in the region takes a dip this weekend with only a handful of major acts making stops here. Most notably, Coldplay appears in South Philadelphia tonight and George Michael takes the same Wachovia stage Saturday.
There's more at the Shore. Aretha Franklin, a battle of the Beatles tribute bands, and a boatload of Elvis impersonators are only the tip of the entertainment iceberg.
Then there's Crosby, Stills, Nash and Summer. Uh, wait, those are two separate shows? Really? At different casinos? Nevermind.
For less obnoxious hot air, we suggest the three-day New Jersey Festival of Ballooning in Readington, which promises up to 125 hot-air balloons soaring through skies of Hunterdon County.
Weather, forecasters said, will cooperate with whatever plans you have in store.
Tonight, mostly clear skies will become partly cloudy with lows in the upper 60s, said meteorologist Valerie Meola of the National Weather Service.
Saturday will be partly sunny, with highs in the 90s. Mostly cloudy skies Saturday night will bring a 30 percent chance of showers, lows in the lower 70s, and perhaps a thunderstorm to scattered locales, Meola said.
Sunday, expect mostly cloudy skies with a 40 percent chance of showers and a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. Highs will be in the upper 80s.
