Police ID 2 Phila. murder victims

Police have released the identities of two men who were shot to death near their homes in separate incidents on Saturday.

Police have released the identities of two men who were shot to death near their homes in separate incidents on Saturday.

Ronnell Davis, 29, was shot in the 4400 block of North Franklin Street in the city's Logan section, police said. He was found outside with gunshot wounds to the neck and an arm about 8 p.m., and was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 9 p.m.

Tyreek Taylor, 22, was shot in the 1300 block of South Bouvier Street in the Point Breeze section of South Philadelphia. He was found outside shortly after 10:30 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the head, and was transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:10 a.m.

Police had no suspects and knew of no motive in either case, as of this morning.

The cases bring this year's homicide total to 225.

Last year, through Sept. 7, the count was 290.
