Final farewells for 6-year-old Aaliyah

An open-casket viewing for Aaliyah Griffin, 6, began at 9 a.m. at Deliverance Evangelistic Church, 21st Street and Lehigh Avenue, and is to be followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m.

A flower arrangement next to her casket said simply "Pooka," her nickname.

Aaliyah was fatally injured Wednesday along with Gina Marie Rosario, 7, and Remedy Smith, 11 months, and Remedy's mother, LaToya Smith, 22, when a car driven my a man fleeing an armed robbery jumped a curb and mowed then down.

Funeral services for the other three also will be held this week.

Donta Cradock, 18, the alleged driver of the car, has been charged with murder, vehicular homicide, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery, carjacking, gun charges and several other offenses.
