Man dies in West Philadelphia
Last night, a few minutes before midnight, police were called to the 200 block of N. Simpson St., where they found a man on the floor, bleeding, police said.
He was pronounced dead at midnight. Apparently he'd been struck on the head, but no weapon was found, police said.
He was identified as David Flowers, 23, who lived about two miles away, in the 5100 block of Kershaw Street, also in West Philadelphia.
Overbook woman arrested in housemate's killing
A 23-year-old Overbrook woman has been charged with killing a housemate, perhaps after an argument over food, police said.
The body of Wanda Hartzog, 47, was found shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, with a stab wound in the neck.
Unique Drayton, 23, was arrested yesterday and charged with murder and possession of an instrument of crime.
The two unrelated women lived on the second floor of a rowhouse in the 5200 block of West Jefferson Street, apparently renting separate bedrooms but sharing the kitchen and the bathroom, said Homicide Sgt. Frank Hayes.
"It appears that there may have been an argument over Drayton's food," Hayes said.
Drayton may have seen Hartzog getting into a pot of food that Drayton had prepared, Hayes said.
"We don't have a weapon recovered," he said.
