Police are searching for a North Philadelphia man accused of raping one woman and stabbing another last weekend in the city's Hunting Park section.

Orlando Cabero, 39, was an acquaintance of the 40-year-old and 20-year-old victims. The three were together early Sunday morning on the 800 block of Schiller Street, said Sgt. Ray Evers, a police spokesman.

"There was some drinking and drug use," Evers said. "An altercation transpired."

Cabero, also known as "Jumbo" or "June," choked and stabbed the older woman and sexually assaulted the younger one. When he fled, the women called police who took them to a local hospital. The 40-year-old woman remained in stable condition today with wounds to her upper body and defensive injuries to her arms, Evers said.

Cabero, who is considered armed and dangerous, is described as 5-foot-9, 170 lbs., and with long curly black hair that he sometimes pulls into a ponytail. His last known address was on the 2300 block of North 4th Street. Cabero - charged with assault, sexual assault and 13 related counts - is known to frequent 4th and Cambria Streets, 5th and Clearfield Streets, and Front and Lehigh, Evers said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3253.
