Linda Ellison, 40, was found last night, shot in the chest allegedly by David Bowens, 49, at his North Philadelphia home in the 1100 block of Overington Street.
Bowens, arrested and charged with murder and related offenses, told a coworker he shot his girlfriend for cheating on him, and the coworker called 911 about 8:20 p.m., according to police.
Through a window, officers could see a woman on the living room floor and they forced their way in to find she had been shot in the chest, police said.
Ellison, who lived about a half-mile away, in the 1000 block of Kenwyn Street, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:58 p.m.
Early Sunday morning, a bar fight in North Philadelphia ended with the shooting death of Dawann Ali Naim, 24, of the 12 West Harold St.
The homicide happened about 2 a.m. at the Comfort Zone Bar in the 2400 block of Germantown Avenue, about a half-mile from Naim's home, according to police.
Police found Naim lying in the street. He was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital at 2:27 a.m.
No arrests had been made of this morning.
