Police have named a homicide victim from yesterday morning, but were withholding the name of the victim of a late-night killing.

Last night, shortly before midnight, the body of a man, 66, was found lying next to a van in 3900 block of Folsom Street in the city's Mantua section.

He had been shot twice in the head, and was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:08 a.m.

Police were withholding the man's name pending notificiation of relatives.

The homicide was the city's 89th this year. As of this date a year ago, the count was 88, down from 100 in 2008, 132 in 2007.

Yesterday morning, about 2:30, a body was found in a vacant lot in the 2100 block of North 20th Street in North Philadelphia.

Paris Grant, 25, was found within a couple of blocks of his home in the 2200 block of North Uber Street.

He had been shot twice and stabbed in the face, police said. One bullet entered his left side and went through his right arm. Another went through his groin and hip.

Medics pronounced him dead at the scene at 2:34 a.m.

Police are trying to determine possible motives and suspects in both homicides.
