Car linked to suburban thefts

Police are seeking the public's help to curb a rash of suburban break ins, police said.

"We're hoping someone will recognize this car," Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Det. Robert Balchunis said today.

He said police believe the light-colored, late-model sedan is connected to a June 1 theft at 4 a.m. in the 900 block of Sage Road in Westtown Township and an attempted theft about 15 minutes earlier on Applegate Drive in West Goshen Township, if not more crimes.

Balchunis said surveillance video showed two occupants in the car, one of whom was a white male in his late teens or early 20s wearing dark-colored shorts and white sneakers.

"Warm weather, a poor economy and drugs are contributing" to an increased number of break-ins, said Balchunis. He said area departments are sharing information in an effort to thwart the thefts, and he reminded residents to be vigilant.

Anyone with information is urged to call him at 610-692-9600, ext. 212 or West Goshen Township Police Officer Michael Cotter at 610-696-7400, ext. 4237.
