Phila. police car crashes on Broad Street

A Philadelphia police officer went to a hospital this morning after his patrol car and another vehicle collided at Broad Street and Oregon Avenue in South Philadelphia.

The officer, who complained about pain, was in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, a police spokeswoman said.

Police said the patrol car was headed eastbound on Oregon when it collided with a private vehicle that was nortbound on Broad about 9:30 a.m. The civilian motorist was not injured.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
