Sarah Palin will make a stop on Independence Mall this Memorial Day weekend as she launches her One Nation bus tour.

According to her website, SarahPAC, Palin will be dropping in on spots fraught with patriotic and historic symbolism. Tour details were sketchy Thursday afternoon.

"Starting this weekend, Sarah Palin will embark on a One Nation Tour of historical sites that were key to the formation, survival, and growth of the United States of America," a statement on SarahPAC.com reads. "The tour will originate in Washington, D.C., and will proceed north up the East Coast. More information will follow."

Palin's bus, as illustrated on her website, appears to be festooned with images of Philadelphia icons: the red and white strips of the flag, the Bell, and an approximation of the U.S. Constitution.

The news of Palin's immanent sojourn was a surprise to Philadelphia took both the Independence Visitors' Center and the local branch of the Tea Party.

A spokeswoman for the Visitors Center said Palin's people had not asked for a special tour for the bell or applied for any permit.

Teri Adams, president of the Independence Hall Tea Party, said no one from Palin's organization had contacted her.

"She may want us to come out and greet her," Adams said. "But we're not supporting any particular candidate at this point in time."

Palin's first stop will be at the annual Rolling Thunder motorcycle rally on Sunday in Washington D.C., according to Politico.com.

The former governor of Alaska will then travel up the East Coast visiting Civil War battlefields at Gettysburg and Antietam, and the Liberty Bell with New Hampshire as her final destination, according to the SarahPAC website.

"It's imperative that we connect with our founders, our patriots, our challenges and victories to clearly see our way forward," reads a statement on SarahPAC. "A good way to do this is to appreciate the significance of our nation's historic sites, patriotic events and diverse cultures, which we'll do in the coming weeks on our 'One Nation' tour."
