Animal welfare officers were investigating the discovery Wednesday evening of a dead animal believed to be a dog hanging from a tree along the Delaware River waterfront in Bridesburg.
The animal, with a stick shoved down its throat, was reported by a man walking his dog near the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission boat launch off Tacony Street, said Wendy A. Marano, spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania SPCA.
The PSPCA has initially, and erroneously, reported that the animal had been found in the Benjamin Rush State Park in the Far Northeast.
