Gunfire claims 5 lives over 3 days

A 22-year-old man was shot and killed early today in Southwest Philadelphia following a weekend of bloodshed that left four other people, including two brothers, dead in the city.

Seven other people, including a 14-year-old boy and woman, were wounded by gunfire over the same period.

Among the slaying victims were two men with the same The latest killing took place about 12:20 a.m. when the unidentified 22-year-old man was shot in the torso and back on the 6800 block of Greenway Avenue, police said.

He was pronounced dead at 12:56 a.m. at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Police provided the following details about the other slayings:

- Brothers Khary Foreman, 30, of the 2100 block of Sharswood Street, and Jerome Foreman, 35, of the 1500 block of North Judson Street, were both fatally wounded in a shooting 3 p.m. Sunday on the 2400 block of North Oxford Street in North Philadelphia. A 31-year-old man also was wounded. Police said the slaying victim were brothers.

- Jymare Nixon, 17, of the 2500 block of Federal Street, was shot in the head and killed about 6:30 p.m. on the 1500 block of S. Etting Street in South Philadelphia.

- Justin Reyes, 17, of 2200 block of North 6th Street, died Saturday of wounds suffered in a shooting 11:30 p.m. Friday on the 600 block of West Norris Street in North Philadelphia. A 26-year-old man also wounded in the same outbreak of violence.

Police have not reported any arrests or possible motives in the homicide cases.
