Weekend bloodshed leaves 5 dead, 12 wounded

At least five were killed and 12 others were wounded by gunfire around the city Saturday and Sunday.

Among the wounded were three girls, ages 6, 10 and 15, who were hit by stray gunfire in a shooting Sunday night at an unauthorized party at a rec center at 33rd and Diamond Street in Strawberry Mansion. The apparent intended target - a man in his 20s - was hit six times and killed, police said. (Read more here.)

And in another multiple shooting, a man who was booted from a Nicetown bar for smoking returned early Sunday and opened fire, killing one patron and wounding five others. (Read more here or here.)

In other shootings, police said:

- Dwayne Isaacs, 48, was shot in the head and killed early Sunday in a park on Jackson Street near 27th in South Philadelphia.

- Raymond Butts, 22, was shot in the head and fatally wounded on Harlan Street near 24th in North Philadelphia early Sunday. A witness told police she had seen Butts arguing with another man earlier at a block party.

- Edward Scarborough, 23, was shot in the chest and killed on Ridge Avenue near Montgomery in North Philadelphia early Saturday.

– A 31-year-old man was shot in the face and critically wounded Saturday afternoon when he went to the aid of female friend engaged in a dispute with a group of me on Memphis Street near Cambria in Port Richmond.

- A man was shot in the stomach, pelvis, both legs and one foot on Bouvier Street near Medary Avenue late Saturday afternoon in the Ogontz section. Taken in critical condition to Albert Einstein Medical Center, the victim told police before going into surgery that he was shot when two men asked him for marijuana and he told them he was not a dealer.

- Two teens were wounded in a shooting Sunday night while sitting in a car at 25th and Spangler Streets in North Philadelphia. The victims were a 17-year-old girl, who was shot in the arm and leg, and a 19-year-old man, who was wounded in the left cheek.
