The high school teenager referred to as "Victim 1" in the grand jury presentment against former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky has hired two Philadelphia-area lawyers to represent him and his mother.
Attorneys Michael J. Boni, of Boni & Zack L.L.C. in Bala Cynwyd, and Slade H. McLaughlin, of McLaughlin & Lauricella, in Philadelphia, said in a statement that they will also be handling all press and other inquiries for the victim.
The two say they, "will draw on our experience representing victims of clergy abuse in the Philadelphia Catholic Archdiocese System."
The lawyers say one of their current clients, whom they do not name, is, "a witness for the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office in connection with an ongoing criminal proceeding."
Boni told the Associated Press he anticipates filing a lawsuit against Sandusky and others "when the time is right."
"Victim 1" was 11 or 12-years-old in 2005 or 2006 when he first became involved with the Second Mile nonprofit, according to the grand jury presentment. Sandusky founded Second Mile.
The grand jury report says Sandusky molested Victim 1 over a period of years and began inviting him to stay overnight at his home beginning in 2007 during track season.
The investigation into Sandusky began in 2008 when the boy's mother reported Sandusky sexually assaulted her son in Clinton County.
Victim 1, who is now in high school, reportedly was forced to switch schools after being harassed by other students following Joe Paterno's firing in the fallout from the Sandusky scandal.
The teen was previously a student and track star at Central Mountain High School in Clinton County.
Sandusky says he is innocent of the charges that he abused eight children.
