Germantown slaying victim ID’d

A 43-year-old man shot dead in his girlfriend's car in Germantown on Tuesday has been identified as Sean Mathis.

A 43-year-old man shot dead in his girlfriend's car in Germantown on Tuesday has been identified as Sean Mathis.

Mathis lived on the 6800 block of Sherman Street in West Mount Airy, police said.

Investigators have not yet reported if they have established a motive in the slaying.

Police said Mathis was shot several times as he sat in the car in the 5000 block of Tacoma Street shortly before 4 p.m.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:41.

Numerous shell casings from two weapons of different caliber were found at the scene, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

Mathis' girlfriend was not in the car when he was shot.
