Cops: Camden man charged in five bank heists

Prosecutors have charged a Camden man with robbing five banks in five different New Jersey towns within a month.

Brandon Dickerson, 22, of the 1100 block of Mechanic Street, was taken into custody Tuesday in Edgewater Park, where he was visiting his girlfriend.

Dickerson is charged with five counts of second-degree robbery, according to a release from the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said Dickerson's spree touched off Nov. 9 in Burlington City, where he allegedly gave a demand note to the teller of a Cornerstone Bank and made away with about $2,500. He is accused of Nov. 17 robbing a TD Bank in Mount Holly and on Nov. 26 a Roma Bank in Maple Shade. Just a week later, he allegedly robbed a second Roma Bank in Florence. Authorities said Dickerson's most recent heist occurred Monday, when he allegedly robbed a PNC Bank in Haddonfield.

According to investigators, Dickerson didn't display a weapon in any of the robberies, but during those committed in Mount Holly and Florence, he threatened to use a gun if the teller didn't follow his instructions. During some of the robberies, he allegedly wore sunglasses, a scarf or a mask to partially cover his face.

In total, Dickerson is alleged to have stolen about $9,250 from the five banks. Prosecutors said he spent some of the money on items for himself and family members, but that an undisclosed amount of cash was recovered following his arrest.

Dickerson is jailed on $250,000 bail for the four robberies that occurred in Burlington County and on $100,00 bail for the Haddonfield robbery.
