Police: Intruders flee North Philly home when woman starts praying

Police are looking for two men who stormed into an apartment on Ridge Drive in North Philadelphia, demanded money and drugs, then fled when a victim started praying.

Police are looking for two men who stormed into a North Philadelphia apartment Saturday night and demanded money and drugs from its occupants.

The men, armed with handguns, walked through an open back door of the unit on the 2600 block of Ridge Drive about 10:40 p.m. and confronted three people inside, police said.

Though the victims repeatedly stated they didn't have narcotics or cash, the men persisted, pointing their guns at a 40-year-old woman and threatening to pistol whip her, police said.

A second woman, 55, then began praying aloud, prompting both intruders to flee through the back door without taking anything, according to investigators.

Police described the suspects as two thin black males between the ages of 18 and 22 wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts pulled up over their heads. One of them is 5 feet 3 to 5 feet 4 and was carrying a revolver; the second between 6 feet 1 and 6 feet 2 and armed with a semiautomatic pistol.

No arrest was reported Sunday.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Philadelphia police.
