SEPTA service resumed after bomb scare

SEPTA transit service at the Frankford Transportation Center resumed Saturday afternoon after a report of an unattended package disrupted el and bus lines.

SEPTA and Philadelphia police evacuated the terminal shortly after 3 p.m. and investigated the package, a SEPTA spokesman said.

During that time, buses slated to service the transportation center instead picked up and dropped off passengers on local streets. Market-Frankford Line trains operated shuttle buses between the Margaret Orthodox Station and the Frankford Transportation Center.

Police cleared the transportation center to reopen shortly before 3:30 p.m., and el and bus service resumed.

SEPTA said passengers could expect minor delays as normal service was restored. No additional information about the suspicious package was immediately available.
