Man wanted for attempted murder of Philadelphia woman captured by Border Patrol
The man, a Guatemalan citizen, was denied entry to Mexico, and U.S. authorities linked him to a stabbing in Phoenixville.

A man wanted for allegedly attempting to murder a Philadelphia woman last month has been captured by authorities while trying to cross into Mexico, officials announced this week.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection field operations officers at the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville, Texas, apprehended Leovigildo Alvarado Castanon, also known as Francisco Hernandez, 32, of Warminster, on Monday, officials said in a news release.
Castanon, a Guatemalan citizen, was wanted on a five-count outstanding warrant in connection with the Nov. 8 attempted homicide of the unnamed 36-year-old woman. He was identified by U.S. authorities after Mexican immigration officials found that he did not have proper entry documents to get into their country.
Phoenixville police allege that Castanon stabbed the woman multiple times in the chest in a parked car along the 100 block of Main Street.
The victim underwent surgery at Paoli Hospital following the incident, according to the Pottstown Mercury.
"Our frontline officers maintain strict vigilance while conducting their inspectional duties, and that dedication and attention to detail resulted in the apprehension of a man wanted for attempted homicide in Pennsylvania," Petra Horne, director of the Brownsville Port of Entry, said in the news release.
Castanon is awaiting extradition to Chester County.
