Teen is Camden's first homicide victim of 2018
The first slaying of the year came after Camden ended 2017 with the fewest homicides in years.
A 17-year-old boy was shot dead in Camden's first homicide of the year, police said Tuesday.
Police responding to 911 calls in the area of South 29th and Clinton Streets in East Camden about 1:20 p.m. Monday found the teen in the street with a gunshot wound, officials said.
The victim, a Camden resident whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at 1:51 p.m. at Cooper University Hospital, police said.
Police did not disclose if investigators have established a possible motive or identified any suspects in the slaying.
Camden recorded 22 homicides last year, 50 percent less than 2016 and the lowest since at least 1995.
