Woman, 67, hit by SEPTA bus

A 67-year-old woman who was hit by a SEPTA bus in Olney tonight was rushed to the Albert Einstein Medical Center, and police were investigating the cause of the accident.

A route K bus was turning left onto Godfrey Avenue from 5th Street around 7:30 p.m. when it struck the unidentified woman as she crossed the street, police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little said.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said the woman was trapped beneath the bus after it hit her, and that the bus dragged the woman about 20 feet before it stopped.

The victim's right leg was crushed in the accident, and she was listed in critical condition as of 8:30 p.m.

The bus driver did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or other illicit substances, police said.
