A tanker truck carrying a load of diesel along I-295 in East Greenwich Township, N.J., flipped onto its side and leaked fuel onto the highway Wednesday afternoon.
New Jersey State Police said that the truck was traveling southbound at about 4:30 p.m. when it blew a tire and rolled into a ditch near mile marker 18 after the driver tried regaining control.
Officials reduced southbound traffic to one lane as they worked to clean up the spill.
Police said that the spilled diesel had dripped from the truck's gas tank itself, not from its cargo area.
Just before 7 p.m., crews were still working to lift the truck from the highway and haul it away from the scene.
Police said that there were no reported injuries, and it wasn't clear how much fuel the truck was carrying at the time of the accident.
Officials could not yet provide Wednesday evening the name of the company the driver worked for.
