Three former volunteer firefighters and two teenage friends are accused of setting several fires over a three-day period in May, including the May 23 blaze that damaged the 134-year-old Knecht's Covered Bridge in Springfield, Bucks County.
Three former volunteer firefighters and two teenage friends are accused of setting several fires over a three-day period in May, including the May 23 blaze that damaged the 134-year-old Knecht's Covered Bridge in Springfield, Bucks County.
Tomas J. Markley, 19, and Matthew J. Tearney, 18, both of Trumbauersville; Felicia M. Piepszowski, 19, and Randy G. Malady, 18, both of Easton; and a 17-year-old from Quakertown whose name was not released have been charged with several counts of felony arson, conspiracy and related offenses, police said.
The four adults were taken to the Bucks County prison with bail set at $500,000, Quakertown Police Sgt. Tim Gaumer said. He said the 17-year-old was held in the Bucks County Juvenile Detention Center.
Tearney and the 17-year-old had been dismissed from the Quakertown Fire Department, Fire Chief Doug Wilhelm said. Malady had been a member of the Sanatoga Volunteer Fire Company in Montgomery County, according to police. - AP
