Philadelphia police union elects new president

The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police yesterday elected John McNesby as the 14,600-member union's new president. McNesby, who has worked plainclothes and narcotics details during his career, will succeed president Robert Eddis next week. McNesby, a vice president and chief of staff at the FOP, gathered 4,066 votes to defeat Frank Zampogna, who got 1,281. Voting was conducted yesterday. - Troy Graham
