Three students injured when bus skids into store
Three students received minor injuries yesterday when the bus in which they were riding collided with a pillar in front of a vacant Bradlees store on South White Horse Pike in Stratford, police said. The bus hit a patch of ice in the store's parking lot about 10 a.m. and slid at a low speed, said Stratford Police Chief Ronald Morello. It was carrying 24 students, ages 14 to 21, who had traveled to a Goodwill site in the shopping center for a job-skills workshop, he said. Three students complained of knee injuries and were treated at Kennedy Memorial Hospitals-University Medical Center/Stratford, the chief said. They were expected to be released. The rest of the students were checked at other area hospitals as a precaution. The accident is under investigation. Charges appear unlikely, Morello said. - Edward Colimore
