Police officer, two others injured in W. Phila. crash

A crash involving a police cruiser and two other vehicles in West Philadelphia yesterday morning left the drivers of all three vehicles injured and snarled traffic near University City.

The cruiser was passing through the intersection of 52d and Spruce Streets at 6:46 a.m. when it was struck by an SUV and a small sedan, police said. The police officer and the other drivers, who have not been identified, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, police said.
