Juan Carroll, 22, of Feltonville, was shot once in the chest at 12:09 a.m. and taken by medics to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead two hours later, according to Officer Tanya Little, a Philadelphia police spokeswoman.
The shooting took place on the 100 block of West Susquehanna Avenue in North Philadelphia, Little said.
A few minutes later, Shaka McKenzie, 18, was fatally shot in the neck near Germantown Avenue and Russell Street. Police said that following the attack, McKenzie walked to Temple University Hospital, where medical personnel tried to save his life. McKenzie, who lived in North Philadelphia, was pronounced dead at 3:30 a.m.
There were no known witnesses to the attacks on Carroll and McKenzie, or any suspects, Little said.
In the third killing Sunday, an unidentified woman was stabbed once in the neck and once in one hand at 2:01 a.m. on the 2100 block of East Norris Street in Kensington. She was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2:28 a.m.
Little said that police were interviewing persons who might have some knowledge of the attack but that they had no suspects.
No murder weapons were recovered in any of the slayings.
Also early yesterday, outside the Corner Pocket bar at 414 W. York St. in North Philadelphia, two men and two women were wounded after a dispute with a man and a woman.
Little said the shooting began around 2:20 a.m. Police said a man in his 20s fired into a crowd after exchanging words with others. Two men in their 20s were listed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital with gunshot wounds, one to his right arm, the other to his right foot.
Two women were also wounded in the attack. They were listed in critical condition, with a gunshot wound in the left thigh and a gunshot wound in the chest.
